Arugam Bay, also known simply as "A Bay" on the south-eastern coast of Sri Lanka remains relatively untouched by major tourism development giving it a very "laid back" feel.

The focal points of the area are; the Yala East national park which surrounds the bay and is home to elephants, leopards and a menagerie of exotic birdlife and also the great surf and water sports opportunity in the locale.

Arugam bay itself features a large sweep of beach with an outstanding right hand point break wrapping for up to 400 meters on its day. Similar quality sand bottom points are located north and south of Arugam. Featherlight lips and plasticine grins!

All this and the outstanding wind & kite surfing potential make Rocco's and Arugam Bay a special place to stay".

Another major attraction of the area for travellers and tourist alike, is that as it comes under the influence of the North east Monsoon (Dec-Feb) the long dry summer is the ideal time to travel, with sunshine & temperatures around 25-30c for the bulk of the year.

ABay has numerous beach side restaurants and bars, offering a highly relaxed vibe at affordable prices.

Rocco’s is situated midway along the Bay between the bridge and “The Point” with ten very comfortable Double/Twin rooms, three facing the beach and Indian Ocean, five in and around planted gardens including two Family rooms, 3&4 beds plus 24hr power backup from the Generator for those hot nights when the local power gone missing!

All rooms have comfortable spring mattresses, fans, mosquito nets and en-suite bathrooms, clean, comfortable and simple.

Our aim is to offer “Value for Money” comfortable, easy living on the beach with a touch of style.

Room rates vary with the year but very affordable, typically $20.00 to $35.00 per room per night Room only. (Meal options available on request)

On the beach, is a large, open Restaurant with a simple but excellently prepared menu from our chef, Full English Breakfast, Lobster BBQ specials, Roast Dinner specials to Rice & Curry Sri Lankan Style!

Our staff are mainly from the surrounding area of Arugam Bay (Ullai) and Pottuvil so can offer colourful insight on all aspects of the local way of life.
